If you want a piece of furniture with impact, New York artist and designer, Sebastian Errazuriz, has created a wooden sculpture that is bang on.
Errazuriz has developed a cabinet that slides apart as if it was exploding out. A complex mechanical set-up means the cabinet bursts with a single push on a central vertical seam. It detonates in length, spreading further and further, and the effect is startling and completely original.
It took Errazuriz a year to make the cabinet and it will be displayed at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pennsylvania this September.
If you can’t make it to Pennsylvania then explore Errazuriz sculptured furniture on his website and be inspired.
