Wooden bed covers, curtains, carpets and rugs

German designer Elisa Strozyk is challenging how wood is utilised and our preconceived perceptions of how specific materials can be used.

Elisa’s amazing work caught our attention because she makes wooden items for the home, which would not be unusual except for the fact that they are textile-based, such as bed covers, curtains, carpets and rugs.

They may not be as snugly and cosy as a traditional blanket but the pieces still raise our expectations of how wood can be applied and its versatility.

The wooden textiles are created by cutting the wood into geometric shapes and attaching them to a base textile. This gives the garments an engaging mosaic style that can interact and shape to the environment. The resulting wooden textiles are beautiful, innovative and rebellious.
