Wood is back in animation

There is lots of trend evidence across the globe that points to the fact that wood has made a comeback in interior design and furniture. It was initially as an antidote to the credit crunch and recession. People wanted something traditional, reliable and sustainable; something that wouldn’t let them down.

The popularity of wood finishes continues within the design community but when it starts to appear in other popular culture channels, you know it’s a material trend that’s here to stay for awhile.

The fact that a brilliant stop-motion short from Australian animators, Oh Year Wow, has used raw wood geometric pieces to create characters and scenery for a video from rock band Elliot the Bull, is testament to wood’s relevance in modern design. The video was made to accompany the band’s latest single ‘Colourblind’ and outside of the music press, it’s featuring heavily across the design and creative on-line media.

Wood is officially cool.
