Evolution of Doors by Klemens Torggler

Forget the wheel, reinvent the door instead.

Some of the best design products take an existing idea and elevate it to the next level with simplicity and elegance. The perfect example is the ingenious kinetic door, by Klemens Torggler, which folds and opens like origami.

The Austrian artist has created a four-panel door called the ‘Evolution of Doors’. The invention is based on rotating squares that fold outwards diagonally across their centres to make room for the turning motion. The special construction makes it possible to move the door sideways without the use of tracks and opens at the gentlest of touches.

We’d hang this work of art in any of our door frames.
