360 Fairytale

Ok, so these aren’t exactly made of wood, but they are made from a wood based product – paper, if you couldn’t guess – and we just had to show them off. Japanese architect and artist Yusuke Oono brings fairytales and other stories to life with this series of striking 360 degree books.

Designing the books digitally, Oono cuts them from paper using a laser cutter and then binds the pages together. Each book is made up from forty separate pages. These can be viewed either page by page, or, and this is our favourite way to view them, unfolded into a 360 degree circular fan.

These palm-sized books are just awe-inspiring with the amount of charm and character that pours out of them. Our personal favourite has got to be the ‘In a Cheese’ book. Its quirkiness and character just brings each tiny creature to life.

The collection includes well known tales such as Snow White and Junglebook, and also has a festive ‘Merry Christmas’ book.
