An Old Horse Stable and Coach House Become a Home

ZECC-Breukelen-7This coach house and stable renovation in the Netherlands is something rather special.

Originally built in 1760, the space inside the old coach house and stable was not suitable in any way for modern day living.

However, with some clever thinking, what was once a stable with hay rack and water troughs for horses is now a beautiful living room which still boasts some of the stable’s original features.

The entryway is the old tack room and the kitchen, the old coach house.

The new solid oak staircase becomes the focal point of the space, with the upper half risers remaining open to allow light to flood into the kitchen.
