Minimalist Interlocking Shelves – now there’s a clever idea

dezeen_Letagere-en-bois-by-Lucien-Gumy_1aCongratulations to Swiss industrial designer, Lucien Gumy, who has taken first prize for his interlocking wooden shelving in this year’s D3 Contest – the award for young designers at international furnishing show – imm cologne.

L’étagère-en-bois, which means “wood shelves” in English, comprises various lengths of solid wood that can be assembled and taken apart without tools, screws or glue.

The tapered sections of the uprights slot into the small notches cut into the edges of the boards.

We shall have to wait and see if this innovative idea catches on here in the UK!
