An Ode to Bob Ross

Bob Ross, in case you didn’t know, was an American painter, art instructor and former member of the US Air Force. His TV series, The Joy of Painting, ran from 1983-1994 and was broadcast around the world: today, he is still a cult legend on YouTube.

His effortless technique and soothing voice was a magical combination, and he is a calming source of inspiration to millions. His serene demeanour was the result of the promise he’d made to himself after retiring from military service to ‘never scream again’.

If you love art and want to watch someone paint beautiful pictures from the imagination, look him up; if you’re not all that into art, watch him anyway – he is the perfect antidote to a stressful day.
