New Talent: Design CAF

Christopher French, of designCAF, is a recent Furniture and Product Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University and already an emerging talent.

The Fortitude Console Table was conceived as a collaboration with Speedo for a competition they were running to create furniture for their new headquarters in Nottingham.

‘Fortitude’ was named after Speedo’s original 1914 brand name. The brief was to design a piece to embody Speedo’s values and brand, and Christopher did this by combining literal imagery and elegant design.

The handles are drivers made out of cast aluminium, the legs and supports are stylised ladders and the top replicates the water and ceramic used in a pool. These elements are set off against a lovely dark wood finish.
