Vij5 Newspaper Wood

It’s very easy nowadays to think that you have seen it all, and wonder what else sustainable, eco-friendly design can come up with that is truly original. Step in Vij5 – a Dutch outfit started by Arjan van Hooven Council and Anieke Branderhorst, who collaborate with several young designers.

This particular project – designs made with newspaper wood – was developed by designer Mieke Meijer in collaboration with Vij5. Using layers of old newspaper, they have created a new, renewable material, and can be cut, sanded and treated like wood. Quite incredible, really.
